Little Known Fact About Me:
About Thomas Hunter:

Thomas spent his childhood in Middle Tennessee where both his father and grand-father practiced as Radiation Oncologists. He and his siblings were very active growing up and played on multiple competitive athletic teams including soccer, swimming, cross country, rock climbing, track and field. With what free time remained, he taught himself to fly fish and tie his own flies. He and his father have enjoyed sight fishing for Bonefish in the Bahamas, Snook in Florida Keys, Redfish in Mosquito Lagoon, Tarpon in Puerto Rico, and Sea Trout in the Panhandle. For college, Thomas attended Furman University in Greenville South Carolina where he majored in Biology. He was also active as a triathlete in college and, in his age division, won: multiple long distance races, the USA Triathlon Grand Prix series championship in 2006, and the Great Floridian Ironman Triathlon at 19. He then turned his athletic interest to cycling and, together with 3 of his Furman teammates, won a National Championship in the Team Time Trial. After college, Thomas moved to Louisville, Kentucky to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and attended Medical School at the University of Louisville. He graduated with Honors in multiple classes and continued to pursue a career in Radiation Oncology. He worked on a number of research projects with a focus on gynecologic and lung cancers. He met his wife, and life-long Kentuckian, Sarah, in medical school. After medical school, Thomas and Sarah both earned competitive residency positions at the University of Kentucky. Thomas stayed busy over the next five years and was active in clinical research focusing on Head and Neck, Liver, Prostate, and CNS cancers. Having grown to enjoy Lexington and Kentucky during his training, he was thrilled to join the established and growing team at Radiation Oncology of Lexington.
